5 Reasons to Visit the Sundarbans National Park

When planning a trip to the Sundarbans National Park, keep these things in mind.

Permits are needed for foreign tourists to access the park. They can get one from the West Bengal Tourism or the Forest Department in Sajnekhali. The permit requires a valid passport.

Indians pay Rs60 to enter the park, while foreigners pay Rs200.

Often hire a guide because the park is vast and access to all areas is limited. Guides are well-versed in the best places to visit as well as those that are off-limits.

Boat cruises range in price from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2000 per boat.

Carry cash because ATMs are scarce in and around the national park.

Plastic and polythene bags are strictly prohibited in the Sundarbans National Park, which is a no-plastic zone.

Bring some light snacks with you. There are no stalls inside the park if you get hungry along the way. Don’t litter and dispose of trash in the allocated bins.

Staying in the Sundarbans National Park/Tiger Reserve is only allowed from sunrise to sunset – no later than 6:00 p.m.
